IRRATURA MOZHITHAL (TAMIL) MEANS A WORD OR SONG WIHCH HAS TWO MEANINGS .

WE ARE ALL ONE irrespective of sex, nation, language, religion, region. WE ARE ALL GOVERNED BY MANKIND. JOIN ME TO PRAY GOD 'EVERYBODY SHOULD GET EVERY THING FOR THEIR LIVELY HOOD' AND BEG THE THEE TO GIVE "PIECE OF MIND, HEALTH, WEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO ALL THE VIEWERS AND READERS" thanks a lot OM SHANTHI SHANTHI SHANTHI.

IRRATURA MOZHITHAL (TAMIL) MEANS A WORD OR SONG WHICH HAS TWO                                     MEANING FOR A SINGLE WORD.

I read so many poems in  my school days in  Tamil language book, which was taught by our tamil masters.

One who have to take some special interest in it then we can enjoy the same.

I try to give few poems  and also meanings for the same in English.

First of all I sincerely apology  though I remember the poems, I cannot remember who has written, and in which book it is being part of the same, therefore kindly burden me.

In one of the occasion  a poet want to tease  Avvaiyar (the famous patti  ( grandmother) who taught Athi soodi, Kondrai Vendean   which read as "Aram seyya virrumbu" (means try to do charity ) Aruvathu sinam (Be patient when you get anger)   Udaiyathu vilambeel ( do not unearth all the things you have) like so on.

The poet who wants to tease the patti  and wants to call her "di". (The word "di" (tamil)  is not a respectable word for the elders, perhaps it is being called among the children as friends but for the grownup  (ladies) it is a degrade one) has sung a little poem and wants the meaning of the same;

"Oru kalLadi, nalu illai panthaladi"  Ithu yenna.

( a small herb which stood in one stem with only 4 leaves as a thatch on it what is this)                                       by saying so he pleased himself that he has called the patti as "di".

On hearing  the same Patti become quite angry and sung a song, which one a fitting reply, (when boys are playing they will among themselves call "dai"as friends, but for the grownup males it is a degrade one and shameful one
  Ettegal  lectchaname,  yeman yerum pariyee
Mutta koorai illathe veedey,
Aariya  yada chonnai adi yendru.

Ettegal  means 8 1/4,  letchanam : beautiful,
Yeman (god of death) Yerum (boarding) Pari (Horse)
Mutta Koorai illathe veedy (a house built with 4 walls only without a roof on its top)
aariya yada chonnai adi yenru: (whom you called as "adi)

The other meaning of the poem stands as:

Ettegal letchaname: ugly fellow, yemman yerum pariye (buffalow),
Mutta koorai illathe veedey(kutti suvar) a house without a roof on top and unhabitable.
then she said aariya yada  chonnai adi yenru which means to whom you said "adi"
the other meaning is "aarai" is a keerai which can be cook and eat.

Now you can read it once again and you can feel how humar it is.

KAMBAR is famous poet, he is the author of KAMBA RAMAYANAM( written in the form of poem, in Tamil language)
hence he has been named as "KAVI CHAKRAVARTHI KAMBAR" (The king of kings of the poet).
Further there is a proverb "Avvai kuluzhu padi, Kambar ponnukkupadi" which  means If you give food and request a song on you Avvaiyar will sung and give to you but for Kamber you should give gold, as much gold you give as much he sung. But one more proverb is also there that is "Kamber veetu kattu thariyum, kavi padum" (In Kambar's house even non-living objects will sung a song)

One day a man came to Karmbar's house, the servant maid  who prepare the cow-dong to put it on the wall, once it is dried, may be utilised for cook.  He cunningly asked her as I heard that Kamban Veetu Kattuthariyum kavi padum, I do not want the kattuthari to create the song, you are the person much better than the kattuthari you may sung a song for me.

Without hesitation she sung a song

VANNA MATHI POL IRRUKKUM
VANCHI KODI THAVUM
KOTTUVAR KAIYIL KUTHADUM
SUTTAL ARAGARAVENUM
ORUNAL VITTEN ITHU URAI.

the servant maid told the man,"kindly tell me, the meaning of the above song", if it is not possible for you, "you can take one day time" and then come back and I will give the meaning of the same.

The person unable to get the meaning of the poem and surrendered, please give me the meaning of the poem.

Vannamathi pol irrukkum- it will resemble like full moon.
Vanchi Kodi thavum - a thread like climber will hold it.
suttal aragaravenum: when you put it in the fire it will say the word "aragara",
[ARAGARA is word of divine important to            pray Lord Muruga or Lord siva as ARAGARA AROGARA (FOR lord Muruga) aragara Mahadeva (for Lord Siva)

Orunal vitten ithu urai - I am giving you one day time to understand and tell me the meaning of the song.

The other meaning:

since the servant maid preparing the cow dung to paste the same in the wall, which will automatically dried in the sunlight, the dried cow-dung is then named as varatty, used for burning the stove along with the firewood.
The varaty is more religious in the Hindu community.
The varaty  is used for cook,
Used for Offering prayer for god through Homam.
[HOMAM; IT SHOULD BE CONDUCTED BY A HINDU PRIEST,  there are quite lot of homam such as
GANAPATHY HOMAM(FOR Lord Ganapathy) Durga Homam [for goddes Durga] Miruthunjaya Homam (for getting success in activity selected by the Person and also get victory over the enemies)
Homam is conducted in the Homa Kundam, it has been prepared by using bricks  stacked one upon in a square manner, then fill it to some extend sand, upon the bricks and around the bricks, rangoli drawn using white rock powder, using turmaric powder etc., then decorated with loose flowers.
After the preparation, the priest who performs the homam lit the campur on the sand inside and then put sticks, pore ghee to develop the fire, once it catches offering of sticks with slogas in side the homam (this is only a narration and actual homam will be different on every part of the nation according to their custom)

After completing the homam "Poorana Auguthi" that means  "FINAL OFFERIG" for that any person who are present at the place may offer any money(coins) dried coconut, cloths etc.
After the poorna auguthi a mango leaf will be taken (dipped in the ghee)ash deposited on the same is  taken around and  put it in the forehead.
(for HOMAM QUITE LOT OF PROCEDURE IS THERE WHAT EVER NARRATED ABOVE IS NOT A CONCLUSIVE ONE. IT IS JUST AN EXAMPLE)

Used for preparation of veepoodi (Hindus who follows saivam (Devoties of Lord Muruga/Lord siva/Lord Ganesha/Godees Durga)will wear on their forehead either at a small length in between the eye brows or in 3 lines full length of forehead)

In those days, even to day in villages the varrty is more imporant to cremate the dead body along the log of wood.

Veepoodi is also a good medicine for skin allergy.  The raw veepoodi (un-scented) [which has its own natural smell] when applied and rubbed on the itching parts of the skin you will get a good relief.

THIS SUBJECT WILL CONTINUE IN ANOTHER PART.
